what do we do when a service goes down?

twitter as example - recent scaling issues left service with down time (Shel’s open letter to Twitter)

 what do we when it goes down?

  1. do we get a fix elsewhere
  2. wait for the service to come back

what does it say about us as people?

makes sense not to go to another service if only a short outage - get fragmented conversation - if anything is urgent there’s always IM or email or phone (yes actually talking to someone!)

I have spent a little time getting set up on Pownce - just in case but won’t wisthc unless I have to
